Winter Storm Warning

... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 10 PM PST this
evening...

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 10 PM PST this
evening from eastern Shasta County down along the West Slope
northern Sierra Nevada.

* Timing: precipitation will continue through tonight. Snow
levels will initially range between 4000 feet over the northern
mountains and 5000 feet over the Sierra this morning... but then
fall to around 3000 feet tonight.

* Winds: local southwesterly wind gusts upwards of 65 mph will
continue through this evening over Sierra ridgetops.

* Snow: over the higher mountains... a foot or two of total
snowfall is possible... with 6 to 12 inches between 4000 and 7000
ft.

* Impacts: treacherous traveling conditions from slick roads and
visibilities dropping to near zero at times due to snow and
blowing snow.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow...
blowing snow... and possibly mixed with some sleet are expected or
occurring. Strong winds are also possible. This will make travel
very hazardous or impossible.
